If so this test is a great, and comprehensive way to get determine if you have a parasitic, bacterial, or fungal infection.

Please be aware  that the labs will only process test samples received at the lab by 1pm on the 18th of December. The labs are then closed until 2 January 2024.

In respect of test ordering, please be aware that delays may be experienced due to the festive season and that the labs are closed from 18 December until the new year, therefore test kits ordered during this time will not be actioned until 2 January 2024.

Our GI Effects Gut Pathogen test is for patients with a clinical history suggestive of a gastrointestinal infection or dysbiosis.

  • Bacterial and mycology cultures demonstrate the presence of specific beneficial and pathogenic organisms.
  • Bacterial and mycology sensitivities are provided for pathogenic or potentially pathogenic cultured organisms. The report includes effective prescriptive and natural agents in the GI Gut Pathogen tests.
  • KOH Preparation for yeast detects fungal elements microscopically.
  • Parasitology includes comprehensive testing for all parasites on every parasitology exam ordered.
    • Microscopic fecal specimen examination for ova and parasites (O&P), the traditional gold standard assessment for many parasites.
    • 6 Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) targets detect common protozoan parasites including Blastocystis spp., Cryptosporidium spp., Cyclospora cayetanensis, Dientamoeba fragilis, Entamoeba histolytica, and Giardia.
    • (PCR for organisms is emerging as a highly sensitive method for infectious organism detection.)
    • Macroscopic exam for worm
